Tathra is smack bang in the middle of the gorgeous Sapphire Coast, home to over 150 unspoilt beaches. There’s always another beach to explore and almost a certainty you can find one all to yourself.

Stand Up Paddle boarding & Swimming

Tathra Beach is perfect for catching a paddleboard wave. If you are after calmer waters, Mogareeka where the mouth of the Bega River meets the northern end of Tathra Beach is popular for swimming, fishing, boating, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding.

Surfing

Tathra Beach, Nelsons, Gillards and Middle Beach in Mimosa Rocks National Park, and Bournda Island in Bournda National Park are all close to Tathra Beach Eco Camp, easily accessible and offer surfers great options for hitting the water.

Boating & Fishing

About a 5 minute stroll from the front gate or just short drive north of Tathra Beach Eco Camp ,you will find Mogareeka Inlet . The area here consists of rocky enclaves and small secluded beaches offering both rock and beach fishing. Mogareeka Inlet is a popular fishing area with a dedicated boat ramp to access the river.

Kianniny Bay is just five minutes drive to the south of Tathra and has a gorgeous salt water swimming hole, great for snorkelling. Here you will also find a fish cleaning station, boat ramp with access out to the ocean, ample boat parking and home of the Tathra Fishing Club. Locals fish for flathead, bream, mullet, whiting, jewfish salmon, tailor and more.
